Leadership Programs

The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement offers opportunities for leadership development through workshops, activities, off-campus trips, leadership retreats, and more. By creating leadership development opportunities we work to give you the tools to be a successful leader in your personal, academic, and professional lives.

Leadership Resource Lounge

The Leadership Resource Lounge, located in University Student Commons 229, is a collaborative space for VCU students to learn, lead and create. The lounge includes a conference table, TVs with HDMI hookups, and comfortable furniture. Additionally, there is a library with over 100 books to check out and choose from, including identity development, leadership, teamwork, local and global civic engagement, popular leader stories, and team builder equipment and activities. The lounge is open Monday through Friday 8am-8pm.

Breakthrough: New Leaders Retreat

The Breakthrough: New Leaders Retreat is an exciting new initiative from the Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement.

Throughout the retreat we'll work in large and small groups, through activities and discussions designed to strengthen the capacity of students to be exemplary leaders. By attending this retreat you'll be gaining knowledge, skills, and abilities that make a positive impact in USC&A, VCU, and beyond.

This year's retreat will begin on the evening of October 17th and continue through the day on October 18th (Reading Day, no classes) at the Pace Center. While the retreat is not overnight (it is on-campus), attendance at both days is required.

Registration now open! https://vcu.campusgroups.com/slic/rsvp_boot?id=528315

No registration fees. All meals are provided.

Transfer Student Leadership

The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement is proud to offer a leadership program specifically for transfer students. Through 7 weekly sessions this program provides leadership development opportunities and fosters a sense of belonging and ownership as a member of the VCU community. Each cohort will work together with staff to explore their understanding of leadership and gain practical skills for being an exemplary leader.

Registration and information sessions are available on RamsConnect.

Custom Leadership Workshops

In November 2019, the Office of Student Leadership & Civic Engagement will launch custom leadership workshops for student groups and organizations. To inquire about scheduling a custom leadership workshop to improve your organization’s team dynamics, please contact Justin Raibolt at jraibolt@vcu.edu.
